Does your home have furry friends that need a trim? Today, I’d like to offer some grooming tips. You can take several precautions to minimize clipper burn while grooming your canine companions. To check the blade’s temperature, gently test it against your forearm every few minutes. If it feels hot or uncomfortable against your skin, it is likely too hot for your dog companion. Switch to a cool blade or use a cooling spray, and allow the blade to cool before continuing. For dog-folk with sensitive skin, using a slightly longer blade in delicate areas can help reduce irritation. Moving the clippers along the direction of hair growth generally leaves the coat slightly longer and places less stress on the skin. Keep blades sharp, clean, and well-oiled since a sharp blade can cut through in one pass, which means less friction, heat, and irritation. If mild irritation develops, gently hold a clean cloth moistened with cool water against the affected area for a few minutes to help soothe heat and discomfort. Keep an eye on irritated areas and discourage your furry friend from licking or scratching them. In some cases, a soft protective collar may help prevent further aggravation. If appropriate, a pet-person-safe soothing balm may help calm mild irritation. Consult a veterinarian if the irritation is severe, worsening, or does not improve.
We have just received an express package. Let’s unwrap it and enjoy the joke that’s inside, entitled “Mind Your Manners.”
A mother stepped in front of the television while her daughter was watching her favorite show.
“Mom, move! I can’t see!”
“That wasn’t very polite. Say it again in a nicer way.”
“Mom, I respectfully request that you become transparent.”
