The 2020 monsoon season delivered historic rain in China. A kind-hearted uncle jumped into the flood to help rescue the dog-person family. Mother dog counts her children. One puppy is missing! The mother dog rushes towards the flood without hesitation. She is a real hero. All 5 of her puppies were rescued.

“When you bring a cat home to a family who had lost everything but the clothes on their back, I’ve talked to many of them that I’ve sent their kitties home to them, you’ve just turned their life around. That cat becomes the living, breathing example, exemplar of hope.”

Shannon was looking for survivors of the fire, when he spotted an injured cat. “And I had to jack (the truck) up well over two feet, and block it up with those cinder blocks.” “Her injuries were pretty substantial, she had third-degree burns on all four of her feet. She was in the hospital for 23 days.” Shannon Jay’s heroic rescue efforts were featured in the documentary film, “The Fire Cats – Save Something Small.”

This mama Rottweiler and her 4 puppies followed a rescuer 1.5 miles to a helicopter after surviving the Park Fire in a broken-down truck. “I think the mom is the hero of this story, to be honest. The puppies are two to three months old. But, she was the one who made sure that was what allowed them all to survive.”

Sadly, in March 2022, Borodyanka was the target of many missile strikes which devastated the city. “She was on the seventh floor. Surviving 60 days, it’s a mystery and a paradox to me. That’s the real miracle.” This incredible rescue story was featured as part of the documentary, “Saving the Animals of Ukraine,” which can be found on PBS.
