Chapter 5 What Is Meant by Masters

Masters are those who remember their Origin and, out of love, share this knowledge with whomever seeks it, and take no pay for their work. They offer all their time, finance and energy to the world. When we reach this level of mastership, not only do we know our Origin, but we can also help others to know their true worth. Those who follow the direction of a Master, quickly find themselves in a new world, full of true knowledge, true beauty and true virtues. All beauty, knowledge and virtue in the outside world is there to remind us of the true world inside. The shadow, however beautiful, is never as good as the real object itself. Only the real thing can satisfy our soul, which is the Master of the house.

A Master is supposed to be the one who has already realized Himself and who knows what His or Her real Self is. Therefore He is able to communicate with God, the greatest intelligence, because it is within ourselves. That is why He or She can transmit this knowledge, this awakening power to whomever would like to share the joy.

Actually, we don’t have a Master in a sense. Only until the disciple is able to recognize his own mastership, then a so-called Master is necessary to guide him until then only. But we don’t have a contract or anything. Of course, you have a contract with yourself that you should stick to the end, and this is for your own benefit. And initiation just means the moment of first recognition of your greater spirit, that’s it.

While a living Master is on Earth He takes on some of the karma of the people, especially those who believe in the Master, and even more so those who are disciples of the Master. And this karma has to be worked out. Therefore, the Master suffers for the disciples, and for humankind at large, in His lifetime. And it is manifested through His body. Therefore, He might be sick, He might be ill, He might be tortured, He might be nailed on the cross, or He might be slandered, He might be persecuted. Any Master has to go through this kind of thing. You can see it for yourself, even Buddha, Mohammed (Peace Be Upon Him), Christ and many other Masters in the East or West. None have ever lived Their lives peacefully without persecution. That is what is meant by a Master sacrificing for humankind. But only as long as He has the body to suffer the karma, because karma in this world is physical. If you want to save people out of the physical karma, you need a physical body. Therefore, a Master has to manifest a physical body to take on all the troubles and sufferings and work it all out.

A Master is in the world to help those who need help. But then, He is not in the world, He is not attracted to the world, He is not attached to the world, nor is He attached to His failure or success in this world. You saw what Jesus did at the peak of His glory. He was ready to die if it should be so. By dying, He taught many people the way of surrendering. By not clinging to glory and life, He taught God’s will. He taught that we should always follow God’s will.”

How Do We Recognize a Real Master?

It is very easy! First of all, a real Master will not accept any donations for His or Her own use, because God only gives and never takes. Second, He or She must give you some proof of enlightenment. For example, if someone proclaims to have Light, then He must also give you some Light or give you the proof that you can hear the Word of God. Whomever can give you a proof of the Light and the Word of God, that is someone you can believe. Guru means Light-giver, darkness-remover. Otherwise, how would you know if He has anything to offer?

A false master will always advertise his little miracles, but a real Master will never do so. If He is forced to, He will always act in secret. The disciple only will know, and only when it is necessary, to save him from a dangerous situation, to cure his illness, to help him mentally or to accelerate his spiritual progress. The disciple will then know the value of his Master.”

“A real Master can only give and not take. His disciples are comfortable, but the Master has to suffer. That is why it is said that Jesus had to uplift humankind and that He had to be crucified. He couldn’t enjoy any privilege. That is why people scolded Him and crucified Him. Anyhow, once you learn this method, you are protected 100% by God’s Power. The Master alone has to endure all kinds of suffering so everyone can enjoy. But this is the price of being a parent! The children enjoy all the comforts and the parents have to work to provide all the things, and take all the responsibilities.”
