Next, we’ll have a splendid program of poetry recitation by the Chiayi center. “(Oh, it’s a ‘pocket program.’” “’The green grass on the riverbank.’ Ah…Ah…Ah… I watch the clouds drift by slowly, and dream of a faraway place. I watch the birds fly by swiftly, and dream of a faraway place. I wonder if God sees the smile on my face. I hope I can leave here one day, and live in the faraway place deep in my heart.)”

“(The next song is ‘Donna Donna.’ ‘Donna Donna’ is a very old folk song, which was brought to the new land by the immigrants from England. The song describes how a calf was easily caught and slaughtered without knowing the reason. Anyone who cherishes freedom has to be able to fly like a swallow.)”

“(The third song is ‘Whatever Will Be, Will Be.’ It portrays a person’s experience of growing up. When she was just a little girl, she asked her mother, ‘What will I be when I grow up? Will I be pretty? Will I be rich?’ When I was a student, I asked my teacher, ‘What shall I try? Shall I paint? Or shall I sing?’ When I fell in love, I asked my lover, ‘What will happen to us? Will we be able to enjoy rainbow day after day?’ And the answer was, ‘What will be, will be. What will be, will be. The future is not something we can foresee.’)”

Coming up is another brilliant song. Our female Quan Yin Messengers will sing “Edelweiss” for us. “(The song that we will sing today is dedicated to Master, Who has been quietly taking care of us all the time.) (We love You!)” “Edelweiss, Edelweiss Every morning you greet me Small and white Clean and bright You look happy to meet me Blossom of snow may you bloom and grow Bloom and grow forever”
