The Polish Interior Ministry has proposed legislation to provide dogs and horses that have served the police, fire department and border guard with government-paid, lifetime living costs, including food and veterinary care, upon their retirement.
Interior Minister, the Honorable Mariusz Kaminski, stated, “They are extraordinary animals. Thanks to them, many human lives have been saved and many dangerous criminals have been caught. Caring for them is our ethical duty.”
Presently, over 1,200 dogs and 62 horses are working within Poland’s Interior Ministry. Once their retirement comes, their human partner would be given the choice to adopt them, or they could live at an animal care facility.
Thank you, Poland, for your kind consideration. May all the selfless animals around the world, who bless humans in so many ways, be safe and loved, in Divine glory.
