A November 2024 march on the streets of Taipei, Taiwan, also known as Formosa, attracted almost 2,000 proponents of veganism. It was organized by the Sustainable Healthy Diets Research Institute. Some participants donned animal-person costumes, and the marchers had placards conveying messages about respecting animal-citizens’ lives. The demonstrators also urged government officials to propose menu changes so students can eat vegan at school and help Taiwan (Formosa) reach its sustainability goals. His Excellency Huang Kuo-chang, a Taiwan People’s Party legislator who attended the event, acknowledged the importance of the vegan diet for a sustainable future and said he would advance relevant initiatives in the national legislature.

Kudos, Sustainable Healthy Diets Research Institute, Your Excellency Huang Kuo-chang, and all participants. In Buddha’s radiance, may Taiwan (Formosa) soon be a vegan nation for the sake of the children, our animal friends, and the planet.
