In today’s show, we are going to find out about some healthy ways to keep our cholesterol at an optimal level. Cholesterol is a waxy, fatty-like material that is produced in the liver and found in the blood and all cells of the human body. To operate normally, our systems require cholesterol. However, if the body has an excessive amount of cholesterol, it can also start to affect health negatively. Cholesterol comes in two main types. One kind is called low-density lipoprotein (LDL), sometimes referred to as “bad cholesterol.” High-density lipoprotein (HDL), also referred to as “good cholesterol,” is another distinctive lipoprotein type that is responsible for transporting cholesterol from various parts of the body back to the liver. The ratio of HDL to LDL is what determines whether your cholesterol is at an optimal level.

There are several measures we can take to lower the LDL and raise the HDL level to prevent cardiovascular disease. One of the simplest ways is to develop the good habit of regular exercise. According to research, routinely exercising can bring LDL, or bad cholesterol, down by up to 15% and can elevate one’s amount of good cholesterol by up to 20%.

Apart from exercise, diet is one of the crucial factors that affect cholesterol levels. Animal-people meat is notorious for raising LDL cholesterol. It is well known that traditional teas and some herbal teas contain a good number of antioxidants, which are important substances that aid in the removal of harmful free radicals. It has been found in studies that antioxidants are helpful in lowering cholesterol.
