In today’s news, Canada supports countries in South and Central Asia caring for displaced Afghans, methane gas trapped under thawing Norwegian permafrost could escape and accelerate global warming, Chile prohibits animal-people testing for cosmetics, thirty ancient artifacts rightfully returned to Greece from the US, Sudanese university students offer free schooling to children internally displaced due to conflict, multi-award-winning French chef reinvents fine dining with vegan food in United Kingdom, and drones improve accuracy of population count for critically endangered primate-people living in border region of China and Âu Lạc, also known as Vietnam.

Some parts of the world are experiencing very cold conditions this season, so here are a few tips on helping your beloved animal friends stay healthy and safe. Cold air is extremely dry; therefore, make sure there is always access to fresh, unfrozen water to drink. Although animal-people must exercise to maintain their physical and mental health, it’s crucial to sustain a balance in cold weather. It would be better for them to do shorter, more frequent walks than doing prolonged outdoor activities. Remember to wipe off their feet, legs and underbelly after outdoor walks to get rid of any ice or residue. If you use de-icing products around your home, ensure they are animal-people-safe. During harsh weather, please also consider bird-people and other wildlife. Water is a vital resource that is difficult to come across during winter months. You can leave a durable, nonmetal bowl outside filled with water for them to drink from. Check this at least twice a day and break any ice that forms by pouring on a little hot water.

Now, it’s time to make yourself a bubbling fountain of laughter with the following joke. It’s entitled “Valuable Soil.”

Farmer Fred was standing in his vegetable field talking to his friend Lorna. Lorna saw Fred digging holes in the ground and burying some money. Confused, she asked:

“Fred, why are you putting money into the ground?”

“Because obviously, I want my soil to be rich!!”
