Holographic communication has appeared in numerous science fiction writings as a fascinating form of telecommunication. One iconic depiction of a hologram is Princess Leia’s message to Obi-Wan Kenobi recorded by the droid R2-D2 in Star Wars: A New Hope. Recently, Microsoft released a technology called “Holoportation” whereby two distant individuals can communicate with each other as if one is teleported to the other’s vicinity.
