Unconditional Animal Angels

Today we would like to share some amazing stories of animals who have helped their human or animal friends because of their unconditional love.

In the early hours of December 31, 2019, the Victoria bushfires moved in towards the tiny town of Corryong, while the rest of the world was ready to welcome in the new year. As fire and smoke engulfed the area, Patsy, a border collie mix, quickly sprang into action with Mr. Hill. Patsy calmly herded their flock of 900 sheep to safety in a paddock away from the raging fire. Supreme Master Ching Hai: “Joyfully present the Shining World Hero Award to Patsy, plus US$2,000 for vegan goodies, with all pride, affection, and appreciation. May Divine blessings always surround you and your human and animal family members.”

On March 3, 2020, a tornado outbreak struck Tennessee – particularly the city of Cookeville, in Putnam County, almost 130 kilometers east of Nashville. Classified as an EF4 tornado, meaning it had winds of 267–322 kilometers per hour, it took 25 lives and injured many and left a trail of destruction. Our heroine alerted her family members of the severe danger by whining and awakening her human dad, Eric Johnson, just minutes before the tornado hit their home. The family survived thanks to Bella’s warning. Mr. Johnson said that if it weren’t for Bella waking him up, the entire family wouldn’t have survived the catastrophe. As a result, Bella received the Heroic Dog Award from the People for The Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), a Shining World Compassion Award recipient.

Do you remember a video that went viral online in 2018 about a hero piggy that saved his friend? …Hearing his friend’s cries, our hero piggy charges at the men and didn’t stop going after them until his friend was released and away from the killers. Wow, what a heartbreaking yet powerful video! This is further proof that pigs, along with all other animals, are capable of mercy and empathy – even going the lengths of rescuing a friend from death. Pigs – like other animal companions – deserve love and compassion.
