Here is a little tip for you. If you see mushrooms on your lawn, they are the fruiting bodies of fungi living beneath the soil. Underground networks, called mycelium, break down organic material and when conditions are warm, damp, and rich in organic matter, these fungi may produce mushrooms above the surface. In fact, lawn mushrooms are often a sign of active soil biology rather than an indication that something is wrong with your lawn. However, some mushroom species can be toxic to people and pet-folk. It’s difficult to identify many species safely; therefore, don’t eat unknown mushrooms, and keep children and pet-people away from them. If you want to remove them, wear gloves, pick them up carefully, and wash your hands afterward. Avoid mowing directly over mushrooms, when possible, as this can cause the spores to spread. You can reduce mushrooms in your lawn by improving drainage, reducing overwatering, increasing sunlight, and eliminating excess thatch, leaves, and debris. Mushrooms will usually disappear on their own when the soil dries out.
